    Contribution and privacy

Submit your own firsthand observations. BusCalc stores and publishes the reported road, mile marker, direction, closure type and time. Reports may appear in saved receipts after they leave the live list. BusCalc uses a keyed network identifier for abuse prevention and duplicate checks. It does not publish that identifier or save the raw network address in the report database. Cloudflare Turnstile processes browser and network information to check submissions.

    How observations are grouped

Nearby observations with matching route, direction and closure type may be grouped. You can add a firsthand confirmation to an existing report. Observation counts can include shared networks and cannot establish how many distinct people saw an incident. Reports leave the live list two hours after the first observation. An empty list leaves access unconfirmed.

Example: Two recent reports of a partial closure near mile 42 on I-80 may appear together as two community observations.
