How this calculation works

stay cost = departure turnover + nights × occupied-night cost + stayover services × service cost; nightly price = stay cost/(nights × (1-margin))

This is a supplied-cost minimum-price scenario, not market-based revenue management. Occupied-night cost should include the overhead you intend to recover; vacant-night costs are not automatically allocated. No stay demand, nightly rate or occupancy is forecast. Use your own records for the same scope and period. Example figures are illustrative, not industry benchmarks. Results exclude income taxes and any cost you have not entered. Check the result before pricing work or committing resources.

What information do I need?

Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.

Input definitions and where to find them
  • Nights in one room stay (nights): Use the matching measured quantity, time log, schedule or clearly stated estimate. Zero means intentionally none; an unknown amount is not zero.
  • Departure cleaning and laundry cost once per stay (selected currency): Use a supplier quote, invoice, payroll record or allocated cost for the exact job or period named here. Include this amount only once.
  • Other allocated cost per occupied night (selected currency): Use a supplier quote, invoice, payroll record or allocated cost for the exact job or period named here. Include this amount only once.
  • Stayover services during this stay (services): Use the matching measured quantity, time log, schedule or clearly stated estimate. Zero means intentionally none; an unknown amount is not zero.
  • Additional cost per stayover service (selected currency): Use a supplier quote, invoice, payroll record or allocated cost for the exact job or period named here. Include this amount only once.
  • Target margin after entered stay costs (%): Enter a percentage from your records or an explicitly chosen scenario. No typical or recommended rate is supplied.

Use the Where to find this value controls beside the inputs for available work-it-out helpers. Estimates remain your assumptions; a helper does not verify the source figures.

Worked example

Example amounts use US dollars (USD).

Example answer: Modeled nightly price before tax and channel fees is $82.22 for the illustrative inputs below.

Example inputs
  • Nights in one room stay: 3 nights
  • Departure cleaning and laundry cost once per stay: $45.00
  • Other allocated cost per occupied night: $40.00
  • Stayover services during this stay: 2 services
  • Additional cost per stayover service: $10.00
  • Target margin after entered stay costs: 25.00 %
Modeled nightly price before tax and channel fees
$82.22
Total entered stay cost
$185.00
Turnover cost allocated per night
$15.00
Modeled full-stay room price
$246.67

Use the result well

Spread one-time turnover costs over a stay and calculate a nightly rate covering entered stay costs at a chosen margin. Inputs come from your own records and stated assumptions; no rates or legal limits are looked up.

Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.
