How this calculation works

saleable = harvest × (1 - cull share); grade quantity = saleable × grade share; revenue = sum(grade quantity × price) × (1 - unsold share)

This is an enterprise-budget worksheet using supplied quantities, prices and assumptions. No feeding ration, treatment, stocking rate, fertilizer, pesticide, yield forecast or equipment suitability is prescribed. Grade shares describe the saleable remainder after culling and must total 100%. Unsold share applies proportionally across grades. All quantities/prices use the same unit. No quality grade, safe shelf life or future market demand is determined.

What information do I need?

Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.

Input definitions and where to find them
  • Harvested quantity before culling (matching sale units): Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Cull share of harvested quantity (%): Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Unsold share of otherwise saleable quantity (%): Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Grades of saleable produce: Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
    • Grade name: Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
    • Share of saleable quantity (%): Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
    • Realized price per matching sale unit (selected currency): Sorting scale/count log and buyer quotes/settlements. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.

Worked example

Example amounts use US dollars (USD).

Example answer: Gross sold produce revenue is $1,453.50 for the illustrative inputs below.

Use the result well

Value observed saleable grade mix.

Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.
