Farming produce
Irrigation electricity cost per acre
Allocate measured irrigation electricity expense over the actual serviced field area.
Your inputs
Complete the fields for your selected method. Zero means intentionally zero, not unknown. Currency selection labels amounts; it does not convert exchange rates.
How this calculation works
electricity cost = measured kWh × entered price/kWh; cost/acre = electricity cost / serviced acres
This is an enterprise-budget worksheet using supplied quantities, prices and assumptions. No feeding ration, treatment, stocking rate, fertilizer, pesticide, yield forecast or equipment suitability is prescribed. Use a submeter, isolated pump meter or a defensible allocation; do not treat a whole-farm electricity bill as measured irrigation energy. No irrigation amount, pumping selection, water rights or crop-water recommendation is supplied. Integrated kWh needs no additional duty factor.
What information do I need?
Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.
Input definitions and where to find them
- Field area served during this energy period (acre): Submeter/realpower/runlog, utility price and actual acreage served. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
- Metered irrigation electricity for period (kWh): Submeter/realpower/runlog, utility price and actual acreage served. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
- Electricity price per kWh (selected currency): Submeter/realpower/runlog, utility price and actual acreage served. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
- Other electricity charges allocated to this irrigation period (selected currency): Submeter/realpower/runlog, utility price and actual acreage served. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
Use the Where to find this value controls beside the inputs for available work-it-out helpers. Estimates remain your assumptions; a helper does not verify the source figures.
Worked example
Example amounts use US dollars (USD).
Example answer: Period irrigation electricity cost per acre is $32.00 for the illustrative inputs below.
Example inputs
- Field area served during this energy period: 10.00 acre
- Metered irrigation electricity for period: 2,000.00 kWh
- Electricity price per kWh: $0.15
- Other electricity charges allocated to this irrigation period: $20.00
- Period irrigation electricity cost per acre
- $32.00
- Total period irrigation electricity cost
- $320.00
These illustrative values are not recommended rates or industry averages. Replace every example input with your own figures.
Use the result well
Allocate observed irrigation energy expense.
Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.
