How this calculation works

incremental net = extra driver pay - added route miles × vehicle cost/mile - added trip expenses

Use the amount shown to the driver; it may already include tips or platform deductions. Add only amounts not already included. Include pickup, delivery, waiting and allocated unpaid return travel. Results are before income taxes and describe the supplied scenario, not promised platform earnings. Compare with the original route as the baseline; do not re-charge all original route miles or count bundled tips twice. This does not establish service feasibility, arrival guarantees, safe driving or platform permission to stack orders.

What information do I need?

Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.

Input definitions and where to find them
  • Additional displayed driver pay for the added order (selected currency): Add-on offer versus base route and incremental detour/wait. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Additional distance including any extra return travel (mi): Add-on offer versus base route and incremental detour/wait. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Additional elapsed time including added waiting (minutes): Add-on offer versus base route and incremental detour/wait. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Your entered vehicle operating cost per total mile (selected currency): Add-on offer versus base route and incremental detour/wait. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.
  • Other additional expenses caused by this order (selected currency): Add-on offer versus base route and incremental detour/wait. Owner records or explicit assumption; no account connection or maintained rate tables required.

Use the Where to find this value controls beside the inputs for available work-it-out helpers. Estimates remain your assumptions; a helper does not verify the source figures.

Worked example

Example amounts use US dollars (USD).

Example answer: Incremental net from added order is $7.10 for the illustrative inputs below.

Example inputs
  • Additional displayed driver pay for the added order: $8.00
  • Additional distance including any extra return travel: 3.00 mi
  • Additional elapsed time including added waiting: 15.00 minutes
  • Your entered vehicle operating cost per total mile: $0.30
  • Other additional expenses caused by this order: $0.00
Incremental net from added order

Use the result well

Assess incremental contribution separately from full route.

Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.
