Aggregate product split and sales value
Reconcile saleable product grades with input material and calculate entered grade revenues.
Your inputs
Complete the fields for your selected method. Zero means intentionally zero, not unknown. Currency selection labels amounts; it does not convert exchange rates.
How this calculation works
saleable weight = sum(grade weights); unallocated input = input - saleable weight; revenue = sum(grade weight × price)
Use matching input and output moisture/weight bases and mutually exclusive product grades. Unallocated input can be waste, loss or remaining inventory; this tool does not identify its cause or classify saleability. Prices are supplied quotes, not commodity forecasts. Use your own records for the same scope and period. Example figures are illustrative, not industry benchmarks. Results exclude income taxes and any cost you have not entered. Check the result before pricing work or committing resources.
What information do I need?
Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.
Input definitions and where to find them
- Input material on consistent weight basis (US short tons): Use the matching measured quantity, time log, schedule or clearly stated estimate. Zero means intentionally none; an unknown amount is not zero.
- Finished saleable grades: Enter matching rows from your records; add or remove rows as needed.
- Product grade: Use the matching measured quantity, time log, schedule or clearly stated estimate. Zero means intentionally none; an unknown amount is not zero.
- Saleable weight of this grade (US short tons): Use the matching measured quantity, time log, schedule or clearly stated estimate. Zero means intentionally none; an unknown amount is not zero.
- Sale price per matching ton (selected currency): Use a supplier quote, invoice, payroll record or allocated cost for the exact job or period named here. Include this amount only once.
- Total entered batch processing and material cost (selected currency): Use a supplier quote, invoice, payroll record or allocated cost for the exact job or period named here. Include this amount only once.
Use the Where to find this value controls beside the inputs for available work-it-out helpers. Estimates remain your assumptions; a helper does not verify the source figures.
Worked example
Example amounts use US dollars (USD).
Example answer: Contribution after entered batch cost is $5,500.00 for the illustrative inputs below.
Example inputs
- Input material on consistent weight basis: 1,000.00 US short tons
- Finished saleable grades
- Product grade: Grade A
- Saleable weight of this grade: 400.00 US short tons
- Sale price per matching ton: $20.00
- Product grade: Grade B
- Saleable weight of this grade: 500.00 US short tons
- Sale price per matching ton: $15.00
- Total entered batch processing and material cost: $10,000.00
- Contribution after entered batch cost
- $5,500.00
- Total grade sale value
- $15,500.00
- Saleable output yield
- 90.00 %
- Input not assigned to saleable grades
- 100.00 US short tons
These illustrative values are not recommended rates or industry averages. Replace every example input with your own figures.
Use the result well
Reconcile saleable product grades with input material and calculate entered grade revenues. Inputs come from your own records and stated assumptions; no rates or legal limits are looked up.
Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.
