Your inputs

Complete the fields for your selected method. Zero means intentionally zero, not unknown. Currency selection labels amounts; it does not convert exchange rates.

How this calculation works

OEE=(runtime/planned)*(ideal cycle*total/runtime)*(good/total).

Time units must match. Ideal cycle is supplied, not inferred. OEE also equals good pieces × ideal cycle / planned production time. Zero production gives zero OEE; unavailable component ratios are labeled.

What information do I need?

Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.

Input definitions and where to find them
  • Planned production time (minutes): Planned production minutes using a stated planned-exclusion convention.
  • Actual run time (minutes): Actual runtime within that planned period.
  • Ideal cycle time per piece (minutes/piece): Qualified/supplied ideal time per piece.
  • Total pieces including rejects (pieces): Actual count from job, sales, production or service records for total pieces including rejects. Future counts are explicit assumptions; do not infer demand.
  • Good accepted pieces (pieces): First-pass accepted good pieces, not automatically reworked pieces.

Use the Where to find this value controls beside the inputs for available work-it-out helpers. Estimates remain your assumptions; a helper does not verify the source figures.

Worked example

Example amounts use US dollars (USD).

Example answer: Overall equipment effectiveness is 69.27 % for the illustrative inputs below.

Example inputs
  • Planned production time: 480.00 minutes
  • Actual run time: 400.00 minutes
  • Ideal cycle time per piece: 0.50 minutes/piece
  • Total pieces including rejects: 700 pieces
  • Good accepted pieces: 665 pieces

Use the result well

Measure availability performance and quality from observed production.

Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.

This tool provides business arithmetic. It does not approve engineering designs, establish legal or tax treatment, select equipment or certify safe operating conditions.
