Fleet
Fleet maintenance reserve per mile
Fund known future maintenance events across remaining mileage.
Your inputs
Complete the fields for your selected method. Zero means intentionally zero, not unknown. Currency selection labels amounts; it does not convert exchange rates.
How this calculation works
sum(event cost/remaining miles until event) as earmarked reserve rates.
Distance normalizes to kilometres for every event. Reserve rates are individually earmarked and stop when the associated event is funded. This is not an indefinite flat expense rate or maintenance schedule recommendation.
What information do I need?
Use records for the same job, equipment or accounting period. Only the fields for your selected entry method are required. An unknown amount is not zero.
Input definitions and where to find them
- Known future maintenance events: One row per distinct known future maintenance events, on the stated row and period basis. Do not enter both components and their total.
- Future event cost still unfunded (selected currency): STILL-UNFUNDED future event cost.
- Remaining distance until event (mi): REMAINING distance to this event, not total vehicle lifetime. Stop this earmarked rate when funded.
Use the Where to find this value controls beside the inputs for available work-it-out helpers. Estimates remain your assumptions; a helper does not verify the source figures.
Worked example
Example amounts use US dollars (USD).
Example answer: Combined earmarked reserve per kilometre is $0.07 for the illustrative inputs below.
Example inputs
- Known future maintenance events
- Future event cost still unfunded: $1,000.00
- Remaining distance until event: 12,427.423844746678 mi
- Future event cost still unfunded: $600.00
- Remaining distance until event: 18,641.135767120017 mi
- Combined earmarked reserve per mile
- $0.11
- Combined earmarked reserve per kilometre
- $0.07
These illustrative values are not recommended rates or industry averages. Replace every example input with your own figures.
Use the result well
Fund known future maintenance events across remaining mileage.
Keep inputs on the same scope and time basis. Calculations retain precision internally; displayed values generally round to two decimal places, with extra precision for very small values and whole-unit rounding where required. Economic comparisons describe your supplied assumptions and do not guarantee future results.
